The reason was a guard’s complaint that Navalny had insulted him as he left his cell, the Kremlin critic’s Telegram channel said on Tuesday. The 47-year-old must therefore spend twelve days in a cramped solitary cell. It is the 21st time that Navalny has been sentenced to this sentence in prison.
Navalny, who has been in prison for two and a half years for alleged fraud, was sentenced to 19 years in prison in another extremism case in August. At the end of September it became known that the camp authorities wanted to place him in solitary confinement for a year.
Three of Navalny’s defenders were recently taken into custody. They are accused of forming an extremist organization. Internationally, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin’s best-known opponent is considered a political prisoner. (SDA)
