As officials in the city of Rhineland-Palatinate announced on Thursday, efforts are currently underway to determine the identity of the connection owner. The call center employee almost completely lost his hearing as a result of the attack.

Police say the attack happened during a phone call in the summer. The caller played a high-frequency sound delivered directly to the victim’s ears through headphones, damaging his eardrums. The Public Prosecution Service has now instructed the officers to conduct an investigation. This is an allegation of serious bodily harm.
