Man jumps headfirst into the 9/11 Memorial in New York City CROSSANTS FLAWING? Yes! I do!

Tourists and passersby observed a strange and shocking scene at the September 11, 2001 Memorial in New York City on Monday, October 9. A man jumped into the pool about nine meters deep, injured his leg and then slid head first into a second pool, about six meters deep. Videos of the incident have been published on the X platform (formerly Twitter) showing what happened from different perspectives. Activate alert: It’s in the video blood to see.

The “911 Memorial”, the monument in memory of the attacks of September 11, 2001, consists of two water basins, each with two levels of different depth. The first level is 30 feet or about nine meters deep, the second another 20 feet or about six meters. They symbolize the former foundation of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, which collapsed at the time. This is what the whole thing looks like from above:

Eyewitnesses saw the 33-year-old man jump into the first pool. Apparently he injured his leg. In the videos you can see how the water around him turned red as it mixed with his blood. He then waded through the knee-deep water to the second edge, where he lay down. A few anxious moments later he slid headfirst into the depths.

Survived the fall

The man survived the fall. Police officers were able to rescue him from the lower pool through a maintenance access and take him to nearby Bellevue Hospital. The motives for the 33-year-old’s crime are still unclear. He told one of the police officers that he did it “for his father,” CBS New York reports. It is unclear whether his father was a victim of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The man is now being prosecuted. (lso)
