Ex-bodyguard of Kremlin chief goes all out: “That’s why an assassination attempt on Putin is practically impossible”

Vitaly Brizhaty worked for years as a bodyguard for Vladimir Putin.

Vitaly Brizhaty worked for the Russian police for several years until he got a job as a guard for Vladimir Putin (70) in 2021. On the Russian-annexed Crimean Peninsula, he oversaw the ruler’s secret holiday home in the village of Oliva.

On February 24, 2022, the day of the Russian invasion, Brizhaty filed a motion to dismiss. When this was rejected, the Russian decided to flee Russia with his family at the end of 2022 and go to Ecuador. According to his own statements, he is now being persecuted there by his former colleagues.

Never mentioned by name

In an interview with the newspapers “CH Media”, the Russian explains how Putin lives in Crimea: “It is a mini-city. There is an administration building that we were not allowed to enter, a separate army living there, an armory, a diving group and doctors. In the small village, helipads and ice hockey rinks were even built for the Russian president.

Brizhaty’s job was to check the area twice a day for explosives and ensure security for Putin’s arrival. Everyone just called him “the first” and no one ever mentioned his last name. The job as a bodyguard paid about 650 euros per month.

Putin only flew in twice, the ex-police officer recalls. After all, he didn’t even spend the night in the holiday home. “The fact is that Putin carefully conceals his movements, even from his own employees,” the Russian said. “The only people who can reach Putin are his bodyguards, a special unit of the Federal Security Service. She is an elite among elites.”

‘They come to you. Greetings!”

For this reason, an assassination attempt on the Russian dictator is practically impossible. “The selection of officials of the Federal Security Service is organized in such a way that almost all of them believe that their job is the right one,” Brizhaty said. Many of his former colleagues ‘simply saw the war as a good opportunity for promotion’.

Brizhaty also did not want to be passively involved in the war against Ukraine. Now he has to fear for his life in Ecuador. A former colleague recently wrote to him: “They come to you. Don’t answer and delete my number. Greetings!” (obf)
