A 50-year-old American man accused of murdering nearly two dozen elderly women has been killed by his cellmate in a remote Texas prison. Billy C.* was found dead in his cell, according to a spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections.

His cellmate was also behind bars for murder. He was identified as the perpetrator. Authorities would not release any further details about his identity. They also provided no information about how C. died.

Violent burglary in seniors’ home

C. was sentenced to two life sentences for double murder. Authorities believe he was also responsible for other deaths over a two-year period in the Dallas area. It is said that he specifically attacked, murdered and then stole older women. Initially, the deaths were always attributed to natural causes – although family members were puzzled by the missing jewelry.

C. was eventually arrested when a 91-year-old woman survived an attack and was able to make a statement to the police. She describes how C. had entered her residential group for seniors.
