Three militant Palestinians killed during military operation in Jenin UN on fatalities after storm in Libya: about ten percent are migrants

At least three Palestinian militants were killed in an Israeli military operation in Jenin, West Bank, on Tuesday evening. The Palestinian Health Ministry also said 30 other people were injured. The Israeli military said soldiers were on duty in the Jenin refugee camp. A drone was also used in the attack.

According to residents, the soldiers surrounded the house of a member of the Al-Aqsa Brigades. This is the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party. There were gun battles with armed Palestinians. Militant groups in the city said their members were involved in armed clashes with the Israeli army.

Jenin is considered a stronghold of militant Palestinians. There have been repeated raids by the Israeli army there.

The security situation in Israel and the West Bank has long been tense. Since the beginning of the year, 27 Israelis, a Ukrainian and an Italian have been killed in attacks. During the same period, 190 Palestinians died during Israeli military operations, confrontations or after their own attacks.

Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967. Today, more than 600,000 Israeli settlers live there. The Palestinians claim the areas for an independent state of Palestine with the Arab-dominated eastern part of Jerusalem as its capital. (sda/dpa)
