The two-year deal between motorcycle talent Noah Dettwiler (18) and the French Moto3 racing team CIP not only brings a Swiss back into the motorcycle world championship after a two-year dry period. Dettwiler’s 2024 GP entry also reunites CIP boss Alain Bronec (61) with Switzerland.

There was a time when Bronec no longer wanted to know anything about the Swiss. The Frenchman worked with Friborg team coordinator Fred Corminboeuf in the Moto2 World Championship for years, but was dropped by him at the end of 2012.

Corminboeuf continued to lead the Moto2 team single-handedly and Swiss sponsors such as Technomag followed him. Bronec was faced with a fait accompli: he was forced to only continue in the small Moto3 class.

“A sponsor can of course do whatever he wants,” Bronec said at the time about his racing team’s bitterest hour. “But after three productive years I expected an extension. I was amazed.”

Bronec’s drivers in these three years from 2010 to 2012? The young Dominique Aegerter (32) rode with Bronec in his first three Moto2 years and achieved his first GP podium.

Dettwiler’s new boss was already training Aegerter

“Alain was a racing driver himself and is a very good promoter of young talent,” Aegerter told Blick. “He knows the trade and can deal very well with young drivers. I am very happy for Noah. CIP is a very good team to participate in the World Cup.”

Aegerter adds that the French have a lot of valuable experience in Moto3. Dettwiler’s new team has been competing in the smallest class since 2012 and in GP races since 2009. There have been repeated podium finishes, such as in 2017 by Marco Bezzecchi (24), the current World Cup third place in the premier class MotoGP.
