There have been repeated sightings of alleged UFOs in the sky. The images are usually anything but clear. There is currently no evidence of aliens. Now self-proclaimed UFO expert Jaime Maussan (70) claims to have made the decisive breakthrough. He presented no photos in the Mexican parliament on Tuesday. He presented the alleged mummified remains of “non-human beings” at a hearing at Parliament House.
The hearing was organized by MP Sergio Gutiérrez (47) “in the name of the public interest”. He asked the speakers to swear that they were telling the truth. They took an oath.
“They are non-human beings,” Maussan said. “But we don’t want to call them aliens because we don’t know,” he added. Maussan claims to have discovered the mummies in Peru. Specialists from the National University of Mexico used radiocarbon measurements to date them at around 1,000 years old.
The university’s physics department confirmed in a statement that they had conducted tests, but only to determine the age and not the origin of the specimens. The laboratory “dissociates itself from any subsequent use, interpretation or misrepresentation of the results it published,” the statement said.
The skepticism is no coincidence. Because: It is not the first time that Maussan claims to have found mummies in Peru. The self-proclaimed UFO expert reported such a find in 2017. However, the Public Prosecution Service stated in a report at the time that they were not mummies, but recently made dolls. These were covered with a mixture of synthetic glue and paper, creating a kind of skin.
The report concluded that the figures were almost certainly human-made and “not the remains of aliens.” However, there was no public display of the bodies at that time.
The demonstration in parliament led to numerous amused reactions online. It shows “the contempt this country has for science,” wrote one user on the online service X, formerly Twitter. Others shared videos of the event with comments such as “the Martians have landed,” and one user called for UFO expert Maussan to be named “president of intergalactic relations.” (AFP/bab)
