At least eleven people have been killed in a serious fire in a residential building in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi. More than fifty others were injured and treated in various hospitals, including children, state newspaper VnExpress reported on Wednesday, citing doctors. However, authorities fear that the number of deaths could rise. The Vietnam News Agency spoke of possibly dozens of victims.
According to the news agency, about 150 people lived in the 10-story building in Thanh Xuan district. However, it was unclear how many of them were in the house at the time of the fire. The fire, which probably broke out late Tuesday evening on the first floor due to an unknown cause, has now been extinguished, police said, citing the fire. Emergency services searched the rubble for more victims. (SDA)
