The injured mountaineer published photos of the alleged perpetrators on Facebook.

He only wanted to help: a mountain guide (56) from Bavaria (D) was knocked unconscious during a relief operation last month (Blick reported). Police were following a lead in their search for the knocker – or so they thought. Now it appears that the police were looking for the wrong person.

The real perpetrator is still unknown, the researchers said. “Even after intensive investigation and interviews with the witnesses involved, no possible perpetrator has yet been identified,” the police inspectorate told Merkur.de. Or simply put: the researchers are still groping in the dark.

Search for perpetrators on social media

Photos and videos appeared on social media shortly after the crime. You will see, among other things, the suspect and his female companion, who have requested the help of the mountain guide. The suspect is under investigation for grievous bodily harm as the incident occurred in an exposed location.

Thousands of people shared the content in the hope of finding the alleged perpetrator – even though they weren’t supposed to. So did the injured mountain climber. He writes on Facebook: “After expecting to have to walk around with a numb side of my face all my life, I now don’t care at all about what is or is not allowed in terms of data protection.”

The perpetrator is said to be called “Mariusz”.

The injured mountain guide published a description of the mountaineer, who “hopefully will never again deprive others of the pleasure of mountaineering.” The photo he shared showed the woman wearing a red helmet and the two men wearing baseball caps. “The criminal was called ‘Mariusz’ by his companion,” the mountain guide recalls.

He is now calling on people on Facebook to share the message and find the perpetrator. The police have also published the following description of the perpetrator: approximately 40 years old, European (possibly Czech), short brown hair, three-day beard, thin black pants, black T-shirt, black backpack, light gray gloves and light gray cap.
