Venezuelans caught with $150,000 in counterfeit money on the radio 35 cartoons about the climate crisis that even made Roger K. think

A Venezuelan was caught with a pile of counterfeit money in his portable radio after arriving from Colombia. The counterfeit money, with a face value of nearly $150,000, was discovered during a routine check at the Peracal border checkpoint between San Antonio del Táchira in Venezuela and Cúcuta in Colombia, according to a Venezuelan military logbook accessed by AFP news agency.

The bills were therefore hidden in a portable radio. Added together, the total would be $148,700. Venezuelan authorities have repeatedly encountered counterfeit dollar bills. According to them, there are four to five advertisements per month.

Hyperinflation in the socialist-led South American country has made the dollar the de facto main currency in Venezuela. The official national currency is still the bolívar, but the leadership in Caracas approves the use of the dollar as a substitute currency, citing “Washington’s economic blockade”.
