In response to this video, a large-scale search was launched this week in and around Berlin. The animal was believed to be a lioness.

Hundreds of emergency services searched wildly for two days this week for an alleged lioness in Berlin. The large-scale search, which even involved an armored vehicle, made headlines worldwide.

On Friday afternoon it finally turned out that the alleged lioness is most likely a wild boar. According to the mayor of Kleinmachnow, Michael Grubert (63) (SPD), two experts came to this conclusion. But how did they manage to expose the lioness as a wild boar?

So it wasn’t a lioness

According to Grubert, the research was led by two “independent luminaries in the field”. Both came to the same conclusion. This is reported by the “image”.

As so-called cyber trackers, the experts Louis Liebenberg and José María Galán combine tracking with modern technologies. Liebenberg had learned from the natives how to precisely read the tracks of various animals and based on this knowledge he developed software that allows animal observers in the field to collect and evaluate information.

Analyzing the video, the experts found some significant differences from a wild boar. Not only is the back of the animal too round, but also the tail is much too short. In addition, the leg is too thick for a lioness. So the conclusion was clear: the animal could be a wild boar with unusually light-colored fur.

Were they two wild boars?

According to Berlin hunter Bernhard S. (43), it could even be that the video showed two and not just one wild boar. “The animals were a little bit apart,” S. said to the “image”.

Due to the poor lighting conditions, the contours were then blurred and it looked as if there was one large animal.

Despite the experts’ verdict, a few people still doubt whether there is a wild boar in the video. (dzc)
