Within a few days: two motorcyclists die on the same traffic training ground

Two fatal accidents took place at a traffic training ground in Kirchheim (D) last week. Last Monday a motorcyclist (53) killed his instructor († 55) during a training for so-called driving safety instructors, now there was another tragedy a few meters from the place of death.

Motorcyclist and driving instructor Marleen F.* († 22) wanted to enter a narrow roundabout on Saturday afternoon. “Then she apparently lost control of the machine due to a driving error and went off the road with it,” a police commissioner told “Bild”. The Husqvarna FS 450 the woman was traveling on shot up a mound of dirt. The driver crashed badly.

Motorsport club sees no safety risks

Although the rescuers were immediately alerted, all help came too late for them. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. After the second accident in barely five days, there are increasing doubts whether the training area is safe enough.

The Motorsportclub Kirchheim is responsible for the place. Its chairman Bernhard Luz (57) tells “Bild”: “We are very affected and our thoughts are with the bereaved. Both cases are unfortunate isolated cases, each caused by a driving error. They clearly have nothing to do with the site or the security.”

Deep sorrow for the victims of the accident

Even though the motorsport club does not see any safety problems with the terrain, there will be no training sessions on the training ground this week. “We do this out of respect for the deceased and their families,” says Luz. The driving school of course leader Rainer P.* mourns the loss of its director: “We will miss him very much.”

The local handball team also mourns the motorcyclist. Marleen F. played there as a goalkeeper in addition to her work as a driving instructor. (jl)
