Putin met with the leader of Wagner after the rebellion

Russian President Vladimir Putin met last June 29 with the leader of Wagner’s mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhinafter his failed rebellion, the Kremlin reported on Monday.

The meeting, which was attended by all the commanders of the mercenary company, lasted three hours, said the spokesman of the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, at the daily press conference.

“The meeting was held in the Kremlin and lasted almost three hours,” said Peskov, who added that there were 35 participants in the meeting.

During it, Putin “gave his assessment of the performance of the company (Wagner) at the front as part of a special military operation and of the events of June 24,” alluding to the rebellion led by Prigozhin, who ended it when his soldiers were about 200 kilometers from Moscow.

Putin listened to the “explanations of the commanders” and offered them options for employment after the rebellion, towards the Kremlin.

“The commanders themselves presented their version of what happened and emphasized that they were loyal supporters and soldiers of the head of state and commander-in-chief,” Peskov added.

Wagner’s leaders “also said they were ready to keep fighting for the country.”

“That’s all we can say about that meeting,” he said.

On the other hand, Russia assured that repelled this Sunday’s Ukrainian attack on the Crimean bridge and the military airport in the Rostov region, in the south of the country, with individual S-200 missiles.

According to the report of the Chief of Staff of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Victor Afzalov, two missiles were shot down by air defense, the Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel.

Two other S-200 missiles were deflected from their targets by electronic warfare and fell to the ground without damage or destruction.

The S-200, designed in Soviet times, are long-range anti-aircraft missiles up to 300 kilometers which may be suitable for attacking land targets.
