Emma Raducanu (20) is considered the highest paid British tennis player at Wimbledon. She is unable to participate due to an injury.

Her earnings don’t come so much from success or failure on the field, but more from sponsorship deals from Nike, Dior, Tiffany, Wilson and Evian, and British Airways, to name a few. At the end of the Wimbledon tournament, Emma Raducanu will have earned approximately £402,000 – the equivalent of nearly 460,000 Swiss francs. By comparison, Katie Boulter, another British tennis player, would have had to make it to the quarter-finals to earn close to as much as Raducanu. The Daily Mail draws this comparison.

Two years ago, Raducanu became a star in the tennis sky overnight: she won the US Open 2021 at the age of 18. After 44 years, this was the first Grand Slam title by a British woman. A success that attracted major sponsors and should have marked the beginning of a promising career.

But fate had other plans for Raducanu and the joy of her triumph in New York did not last long.

Crash in the world rankings

She has been struggling with injuries since her Grand Slam title. She recently had to go under the knife three times for injuries to her left and right wrist and ankle. The result was a drop from 10th to 130th in the world rankings within a year.

In addition, the Briton changed coaches five times in a year and a half for various reasons. All this negatively affected the psyche of the young athlete. In early June, Emma Raducanu told English newspaper The Sunday Times that she wished she had never won the US Open.

On the other hand, winning the US Open was also a great motivation for Emma Raducanu to continue and show her best side. But the road back to similar successes can be long and rocky. At least she doesn’t have to worry financially.
