Mega recall at Mercedes – 590,000 combustion cars affected worldwide Swiss Post raises prices for letters and parcels

The German Federal Motor Vehicle Service (KBA) has ordered a recall for ten Mercedes series. In Germany alone, 28,000 cars have been affected, worldwide there are even 590,000 cars. The reason for the action is a possible defect in the fuel pump.

Whether it concerns food, medicines or household appliances, recalls are everywhere. Products with a defect or malfunction will be returned by the manufacturer. Spoiled food is thrown away, serious car defects are repaired.

However, media dissemination of the recall reached only a small proportion of those affected. This is one of the reasons why German car manufacturers are required by law to involve the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

Where’s the problem?

According to the KBA, a component in the fuel system of the affected cars does not meet specifications. It can deform and hit its housing, causing resistance to stop fuel delivery.

In short: the car’s propulsion can be interrupted – in the worst case during an overtaking maneuver. Due to the severity of the defect, the authority is monitoring the recall with reference number 012934.

The fuel delivery module on these cars needs to be replaced. Owners of the affected series are requested to contact the manufacturer or an authorized workshop. There are no known incidents to date where this issue has resulted in property damage or personal injury.
