There are few photos of Putin’s armored train.

Vladimir Putin’s plane (70) has largely been grounded in recent months – the fear of an attack is too great. Instead, the Russian president relies on his armored train, which drives him from appointment to appointment.

However, at the price of the luxury vehicle on rails, one’s features threaten to go off the rails. The Russian research portal “Dossier Center” found out: the train cost the Kremlin at least 6.8 billion rubles – the equivalent of 67.6 million francs.

From the outside you can hardly imagine how expensive the vehicle is. The carriages are made of white and gray metal, with some gray accents. Radio antennas on the roofs are used for encrypted communication. All the cars are armored to protect against attacks, there is a bedroom and a meeting room. But as Putin spends more and more time on the train, it is constantly being upgraded.

«Dossiercentrum» analyzed order documents from Tsirkon Servis. The company waits for Putin’s train and calls him the “main passenger”. The documents show that the train is better equipped than many luxury hotels. It not only has its own fitness car, but also its own hammam and an extra car for cosmetic treatments. It is also equipped with emergency medical equipment.

defibrillator and anti-aging devices

Inside is a defibrillator, an infusion pump and an aspirator that loosens mucus in the airways. But also devices for lymphatic drainage, massages and lifting are housed in the car.

The interior design is based entirely on Putin’s taste: “Natural surfaces, fine woods and the typical style of the 1970s,” according to the Tsirkon Servis website.

Of course, every wagon must be bug-proof and at the same time receive satellite signals everywhere. The equivalent of CHF 15,000 was invested to ensure that all televisions can always receive signals, even in the tunnel. It is important for the Russian president that he can follow the Russian news at any time, the reason was given.

Next order is already available

The armored train has 22 wagons, but not all of them are used. Depending on the situation, Putin can decide which wagons he needs. And there is already a new order from the president. In the future there will be several lounges with bars and two restaurants.

The train was put into service in 2014 or 2015. However, the Kremlin barely used it until August 2021. At that time, Putin is said to have started assembling troops near the Ukrainian border.

To ensure that Putin can leave at any time, the train schedules are changed as soon as the armored train starts moving. This ensures that he can drive to his destination without obstacles. And also train stations to Putin’s personal property were specially built.
