Powerful tornado hits Alberta on Canada’s national holiday Mayor’s house attacked in France riots – woman and child injured

A tornado devastated Alberta on Canada’s National Day. As photos from storm chasers showed, a huge dark cloud bole descended near the Mountain View County town of Didsbury on Saturday afternoon. There, the hurricane made its way through farms and fields, taking debris and other objects with it. A total of 14 houses were damaged, five of which were completely destroyed, the broadcaster CTV News reported in the evening, based on information from the Canadian Federal Police (RCMP). A woman trapped in the basement by the rubble of her home was rescued with minor injuries. There were no other human casualties, but the tornado killed 25 cows and 20 chickens. A horse was later killed due to its serious injuries.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who celebrated the national holiday with his family in the capital Ottawa, expressed Canadian solidarity with those affected. “Stay safe,” he shouted to the population on Twitter. Meanwhile, authorities were monitoring weather conditions. About half an hour before impact, Canada’s weather service had warned of a tornado that could form in the area’s severe storm front, according to CTV.
