In the case of former US President Donald Trump, scandals have increased in the recent past. It is now known that he allegedly harassed a governor.

After his election defeat in November 2020, former President Donald Trump (77) is said to have put pressure on the then governor of Arizona in a telephone conversation to reverse the election results. The Washington Post reported this on Saturday based on three unnamed sources.

In the conversation, which would have taken place in late 2020, Trump asked Republican Doug Ducey, 59, to take action on his election defeat in the state and then reverse the result.

Pence challenges his boss

Trump also instructed his then deputy Mike Pence (64) to put pressure on Ducey, the newspaper reports based on two of the three sources. Pence then called Ducey several times, but did not follow his boss’s instructions.

Republicans are at risk of self-mutilation

Last summer, Republican Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives Russell Bowers, 70, described to a committee of inquiry in the US House of Representatives how he had been pressured by Trump’s team after the election.

This is reminiscent of what happened in the state of Georgia. There, Secretary of State and Republican Brad Raffensperger (68), who is responsible for organizing elections, was blatantly asked by Trump in a telephone conversation to collect enough votes for his election success in Georgia. A recording of the conversation was shared with the media at the time.

Trump claims to this day without any evidence that fraud robbed him of victory in the 2020 election. For weeks he then tried to undo the election victory of his Democratic challenger Joe Biden (80) with dubious methods. Trump wants to run again for the Republicans in the 2024 presidential election.
