A police officer accidentally noticed the royal python, the police reported on Sunday. The animal made no move to attack or flee. The snake was apparently weakened. A police officer picked them up and “secured them,” as it was said. The snake was then handed over to the animal ambulance. The animal may have been abandoned, police said.

Ball pythons are non-venomous, considered peaceful and often kept in terrariums. They are brownish black with a distinctive tan or yellow pattern and are native to West and Central Africa. They feed on mice, rats and birds, which they suffocate and crush.
