British billionaire Hamish Harding has died in the Titanic disaster.

The family of British billionaire and adventurer Hamish Harding († 58) has issued a statement after the catastrophic implosion of the titanium submarine. That reports the “Daily Mail”. She paid tribute to the “devoted father,” telling that he “died doing what he loved.”

The statement continued: “He was one of a kind and we adored him. He was a passionate explorer – whatever the terrain – who lived his life for his family, his business and for the next adventure.” What Harding accomplished in his life was remarkable. “If we can take any small comfort from this tragedy, it’s that we lost him in what he loved,” his family said.

Hamish Harding’s family issued a statement

Harding’s death has left a “gap in our lives that can never be filled”. The family added: “We know that Hamish would have been very proud to have nations, experts, industry peers and friends come together for the search and we sincerely thank them for all their efforts.”

On Thursday evening (Swiss time), the US Coast Guard announced that the submarine had imploded. For the men on board, who paid $250,000 to dive, it meant instant death. There is little hope that their remains will be recovered. Harding had been CEO of an aircraft manufacturer and had made a fortune buying and selling jets. (nad)
