The implosion of the Titan is reminiscent of other submarine tragedies

The predictable implosion of the bathyscaphe “Titan”, which disappeared last Sunday with five people on board trying to reach the remains of the Titanic, confirms a new undersea tragedy.

The US Coast Guard reported this Thursday the death of five people in a submarine after the remains of the submarine were found near the area where the transatlantic “Titanic” is located.

– On August 18, 2013, 18 sailors were killed in explosion happened in the Indian submarine, “INS Sindhurakshak”. In December 2014, the court in maritime science he came to the preliminary conclusion that the tragedy was caused by human error as a result of crew fatigue.

– On November 15, 2017, contact was lost with the Argentine Navy submarine “ARA San Juan”, with 44 crew members on board, some 240 miles (430 kilometers) offshore Valdés Peninsula (Chubut, Argentina). On the 18th, 7 satellite calls were detected from the submarine without making contact with the various bases. The remains were located just one year after they sank at a depth of 907 meters and 500 kilometers off the coast of Argentina.

– On April 21, 2021, 53 crew members of the Indonesian submarine, “KRI Nanggala-402”, lost their lives after a problem occurred inside the ship during a maneuver between the islands of Bali and Java. Three days later it was officially considered sunk and was found broken into three parts at 850 meters deep.

– On June 19, 2023, a small submarine was reported missing “Titan”, by OceanGate Expeditions, which was used to transport tourists to see the remains of the Titanic. There were four tourists and a pilot boat on that excursion. The rescue of people who died after the discovery of “debris” from the ship near the ocean liner’s resting place ended on Thursday. The investigation remains open.
