A moment of terror. As Donald Trump is being driven out of the underground parking lot of the federal courthouse in Miami in an armored SUV, a man jumps in front of the ex-president’s car. Dressed in a prison suit, he holds a poster in his hands that reads: “Lock him up”.

The Secret Service and the Miami police are quickly on the scene. But then Trump fans break through the barrier tapes. They also try to get hold of the man. One hits him in the face with a red Make America Great Again hat. Then the security agents push the demonstrators to the ground.

The man jumping in front of Trump’s car has had this plan for some time. He reveals this to t-online the day before in a conversation. His name: Domenic Santana, born in Cuba. In the 2000s, he bought the legendary music club “The Stone Pony” in New Jersey, saving it from bankruptcy. Even the New York Times at the time wrote about him as the man who saved Bruce Springsteen’s club.

Many years later, Santana has become a staunch opponent of Trump. When t-online first addresses him, he is standing in his condemned gear outside Trump’s luxury golf club, Trump National, in Miami’s Doral neighborhood. “I’m not a Democrat, but I know what’s right and wrong and what’s appropriate,” he says. What Trump did was always wrong from the start.

Santana drove to Doral to witness Trump’s arrival from New Jersey. Where Santana once owned his rock club, the ex-president now indulges in one of his many golf courses in Bedminster. The day before his trial in downtown Miami, Trump arrived on a private jet from New Jersey.

“I wanted to jump in front of his car,” says Santana. However, due to the heavy traffic and the police barricades, he was unable to do so. “I wanted to put my shield in his face to remind him of his own line against Hillary Clinton.”

In the 2016 presidential election campaign, Trump called for his Democratic opponent Clinton to be jailed with the words “Lock her up” for using her private email address for official messages as Secretary of State. “This goes way beyond emails,” exclaims Santana, not understanding why even his own mother “is so blind to reality and would re-elect Trump.”

The day before, on Trump’s Miami lot, Domenic Santana knew exactly what he was doing. As almost Trump’s only opponent, he is insulted as “faggot” and “communist” by the ex-president’s supporters. He is aware that he is also provocative.

On the day of Trump’s trial, he is still present. He does not want to hide and exercise his rights as a protester. He’s got his convict outfit back on. Again he holds the sign with the words “Lock him up”. Again he wants to jump in front of Trump’s car. This time he succeeds, although many more police officers are present and the area around the downtown federal courthouse has been cordoned off.

Miami police must protect him first because Trump fans spit on him. With their police bikes, the police form a ring around Santana. Soon after, the officers wrestle him down because Santana actually jumped in front of the ex-president’s heavily guarded car.

After finally wrestling Domenic Santana to the ground, the security forces lead him to a barred buggy. Trump’s column has gone far enough. Multitudes of Trump supporters begin to calm down and applaud. They call Santana crazy. The officers then drive away with the perpetrator. Santana had wished Trump a “hard prison bed, with no ceiling”. Now he himself remains in police custody for the time being.
