Amidst the intersection of accusations of abuse, mistreatment and economic interest, the minors will remain in the care of the Institute for Family Welfare

A family dispute over the custody of four brothers who survived 40 days in the jungle of the Colombian Amazon.

The parents of Magdalena Mucutuy, the mother of the minors who died in the plane crash, assure that her daughter was abused by her husbandManuel Ranoque, father of the two youngest and stepfather of the two oldest.

Some Colombian media leaked that there might even be an appeal attempted sexual abuse Ranoqueom towards one of the older girls. The father denied most of the accusations, but admitted to assaulting Magdalena. “Physically very little, because we had more problems with speech,” he said in statements collected by the newspaper Timeafter pointing out that the maternal grandparents act in this way because of economic interests. He accuses them of only asking for government help. “It’s the only thing they know how to do,” said the father, who said two days ago that dissidents from the extinct FARC guerrillas threatened him and asked the state for a place to live with his children in Bogota.

It was also leaked that in some violent episodes of the marriage there were children in the house they decided to run away to the jungle from the native town they came from, Araracuara, and stayed there for hours.

“They treated me like a rapist, and the girl shut them up by telling them that I was her father,” said Ranoque, rejecting allegations of abuse. She announced this weekend that her oldest stepdaughter, Leslie, 13 years old, told him that his mother was alive four days after the accident. “The only thing that clears me up is yes mom was alive for four days and then, before her death, the mother told them, maybe, go, and you will see who your father is and who knows that it is a father’s love as he expressed it to you».

However, the maternal grandfather said such a claim was a lie. «The same girl says that three [adultos] right there, when the plane went down, they were dead», Narciso Mucutuy told the magazine Week. “After the children have well acquired their five senses, we will come to the definition that they hand them over to us, and make us responsible, I remain as their father, and their grandmother remains as their mother. This is the hope we have”, added the grandfather.

The children are currently under the care of the Colombian Family Care Institute, which has already started a process that could take weeksdecide who will finally get custody of the little ones.
