BMPT-62 “Terminator” – Ukraine has a special weapon of its own that prevents the guard from recognizing the professional golfer and throws him to the ground

The Ukrainian army continues to amaze at its ingenuity. Now their specialists have managed to replicate an important weapon for the counter-offensive.
An article from

Since Russia launched its illegal war of aggression against its neighbor more than fifteen months ago, Ukraine has been defending itself with all the means at its disposal. This sometimes leads to creative excellence, especially in the field of military technology.

It is known that the Ukrainian Air Force managed to screw US-made missiles under Soviet-type fighters and successfully fire them, although the systems are actually not compatible at all. The Ukrainians have also converted hobby drones so they can be used as dangerous kamikaze bombs.

Another example of Ukrainian inventiveness has now become public. As the magazine “Forbes” reports, the 128th mountain infantry brigade, an elite unit of the Ukrainian army, is said to have a very special vehicle that has been made in secret handicrafts in recent weeks – the BMPT-62 “Terminator”. “.

Important for the counter-offensive

The Ukrainian “Terminator” is the first and only of its kind, as it was put together by resourceful army specialists. The niche vehicle is a combination of a Soviet T-62 main battle tank and a BMP-2 armored personnel carrier, which is also of Soviet design. The hermaphrodite is equipped with an automatic 30 millimeter on-board cannon and special reactive armor that improves crew protection.

While the hull, i.e. the lower part, comes from the T-62, the turret comes from a BMP-2. Together, this makes for a vehicle somewhere between a main battle tank and an infantry transport, a weapon that could be important in Ukraine’s ongoing counter-offensive. According to Ukrainian military bloggers, the “Terminator” is already being used in the current fighting in the Zaporizhia region.

The home-made vehicle has a Russian model. Because Vladimir Putin’s army has the BMPT Terminator, which was developed on the basis of the T-72 main battle tank and is particularly suitable for use in urban combat. The original was built by the Russian company UralVagonZavod.

More material for building «Terminators» captured

The Ukrainian army project was funded by the foundation of Ukrainian TV presenter and actor Sergey Pritula. The TV star has been on a mission to raise money to support the Ukrainian army since Russia invaded Crimea in 2014.

Ukraine still has about 45 T-62 main battle tanks, which its soldiers captured in the battles against the Russian aggressors. According to Forbes, there are also hundreds of BMP-2s owned by the military. Material that should be enough for many homemade BMPT-62 “Terminator” vehicles.
