What is known: Last Thursday, the 31-year-old from St. Gallen left his home and drove his camping equipment to Jestetten to spend the night there.

Wild camping is actually forbidden there. Nevertheless, the man decided to spend the night directly on the banks of the Rhine, about 150 meters from the bathing area. He had the necessary equipment with him. A narrow path leads to the crime scene, much used, part of the hiking trail from the Rhine Falls to the mouth of the Thur.

The adventure in nature ends with his death.

Somewhere in the night from Thursday to Friday morning, the man was beaten with a blunt object. Cause of death: traumatic brain injury. In addition, forensic medicine found multiple injuries to the head and face.
