The attackers of Macron’s cousin were sentenced to twelve and fifteen months in prison

The two men were sentenced this Monday to sentences in between 12 and 15 months in prison company because three weeks ago in Amiens (Northern France) he attacked a cousin of President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. The third suspect was acquitted by the court based on suspicion.

Aggression on Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, Brigitte Macron’s great-nephew, came on May 15 after TF1 television broadcast an interview with Macron. During the program, the president defended his unpopular pension reform, which raises the country’s minimum retirement age from 62 to 64.

A group of people surrounded a member of the Macron family on the street and beat him in front of his chocolate shop. They hit him on the head, arms and legs. The first lady’s great-nephew suffered injuries to his face, knee and finger and was absent from work for four days. Seven men and one woman could be suspects in the attack identified thanks to security cameras from Amiens and were immediately arrested. Only three of them were finally tried.

The Trogneuxes are famous owners chocolate and pastry shop Jean Trogneux, located in the center of Amiens, the hometown of the president and his wife. This company, founded in 1872, is known for its macaroni d’Amiens and its chocolates. There are already five generations in the family of Brigitte Macron (born Trogneux).
