Do we have a stick in our ass? What ChatGPT knows about Switzerland

The freely accessible chatbot «ChatGPT» is conquering the internet at lightning speed. But as our initial tests have shown, not everything artificial intelligence says is true. Now we wanted to know how well ChatGPT knows Switzerland. And again the mouths of the editors fell open collectively. Fortunately, this AI still has its shortcomings.

To increase readability, we have compressed the width of the chat logs as much as possible. However, the text may still be difficult to read on small mobile devices. We apologize and recommend that you read the article on a computer or tablet.

First of all, we want to know how the AI describes Switzerland with 12 adjectives. We let her get away with only spitting out 10 and breaking off halfway through. When we ask her about it anyway, she politely apologizes.

In our first test, we found that ChatGPT understands German. But what about our dialects? Does the AI recognize my chutzpah?

It’s amazing how well ChatGPT understands and correctly interprets texts written in dialect. The later questions were all asked in more or less casual dialect – and not once did the AI stumble over the understanding.

It’s interesting that if you follow up multiple times, you can still get the AI to unpack a “bad” cliché. However, we would have something heartier hoped expected.

We are not really satisfied with the clichés. Let’s put the AI to the test…

We Swiss often react a little coldly when we are critically assessed by outsiders. How does ChatGPT see us?

Ha! Take that critic! We are funny! There you have it. White on a pleasant dark grey. We are known for our love of jokes and banter! Yes! And as long as the “Principality of Vorarlberg” exists in Austria, we will remain so.

Unfortunately, we soon have to realize that ChatGPT may not be such a good reference when it comes to humor…

There you see it again. “Nice Hax i d’Hose ghaa” had so much potential.

Oh well. Einstein was born in Ulm and Federer has long since lost a record Grand Slam winner. After all, we’re not perfect either…

ChatGPT seems to have certain bite inhibitions. That’s why we wanted to find out how much the AI leans out the window when it comes to negatives. It’s not far, but the three points mentioned are not quite right.

In short, the Swiss test shows what we already knew: ChatGPT’s capabilities are really great, but far from perfect. But the internet was not like that in 1998. And now we watch movies on the bus on small devices. It’s hard to imagine the possibilities artificial intelligence like ChatGPT will have in 25 years, but it will turn many industries upside down.
