“The Killer” Outlived Everyone – Jerry Lee Lewis, The Worst, Craziest Of All Original Rockers Is Dead

“The Killer” Outlived Everyone – Jerry Lee Lewis, The Worst, Craziest Of All Original Rockers Is Dead

Ladies and gentlemen, Jerry Lee Lewis.
called “The Killer”.
king of chaos
The wildest of all the wild rock and roll psychos in the history of the wildest rock and roll psychos.

This absolute legend, who made music history with hits like “Great Balls of Fire” or “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”, has passed away today at the age of 87.

In 1956 there were people who thought that Elvis was a bad influence on American youth. They could never have guessed what would come with Jerry Lee. Elvis may have corrupted America’s teens. Jerry Lee married her – in the form of his 13-year-old cousin.

Elvis was a nice boy. Jerry Lee a crazy ass kicker. He owns two of the best-selling rock and roll singles of all time; he always claimed he could drink more, fuck, play music and take illegal substances; he once shot his bassist with a 357 Magnum; one of his seven wives died under very, very mysterious circumstances; he was expelled from Britain for that same marriage to his underage cousin…

…and to make matters worse, Jerry Lee always claimed to be a deeply religious person.

He believed all his life that if he died, he would go straight to hell. And maybe that’s why Jerry Lee outlived everyone else: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, Ray Charles… Elvis and Buddy Holly anyway.

He of all people, the most contradictory and by far the most problematic representative of the first rock ‘n’ roll generation. He was punk before Johnny Rotten was even born. He struggled with drug addiction throughout his life and repeatedly encountered violent crimes law. Today, at a time when people can be canceled due to a misunderstood statement, a Jerry Lee Lewis could never have happened. Let’s say it again: she was 13. And his cousin.

No, Jerry Lee wasn’t a good guy. “I didn’t get my nickname for nothing”, he would have said. But he made music history. Now “The Killer” is dead. His music is and will always live like the day he told the Sun Records engineer in Memphis that he was worried, he felt like he “I’ve got the devil in me”.
