Pink pasta. Really now? Is it even worth it?

It has proven to be one of the most successful TikTok trends of the past year: #pinkpasta. Yep, exactly what you’re thinking: pasta that’s completely pink.

And then came the Barbie movie and everyone added the hashtag #barbiepasta.

Since then, the trend has continued seemingly uninterrupted. Reason enough to commission us to do your own experiment!

There are countless variations on TikTok to achieve the bright pink color. What they all have in common is that they use beetroot as an ingredient. I follow Alfie Steiner’s recipe alfiekoks_.

Somehow I didn’t get that perfectly blended pink puree (woah, what an alliteration) like in most TikTok videos. Maybe it was my mixer. Or maybe because I didn’t seem to be using the right beans (I couldn’t find white beans and used pinto beans instead). Anyway, this recipe tasted great. With the emphasis on ‘okay’. Should I cook it again? Hardly. But at least for once, it’s a TikTok food trend that doesn’t involve scary ingredients like marshmallows or ranch dressing or similar absurdities.

(According to Swiss school grades: 6 is the best grade, 1 is the worst, 4 is sufficient.)
