8 funny anecdotes about ‘Breathless’ by Helene Fischer

Philip Dahm

Jelena Petrowna Fischer from Krasnoyarsk wrote German music history as Helene Fischer. The single has now been certified five times platinum and one time diamond and has sold over 1.15 million copies.

Reason enough to take a closer look at the catchy tune. Do you already know these fun stories about ‘Breathless’?

1. Brutal «Breathless»

When some neo-Nazis gathered in Cologne to demonstrate against no less radical Salafists, ‘Breathless’ was heard.

The right-wing crowd reacted with bewilderment and anger…

…but also clearly showed physical reactions.

Everyone who honors the police now…

…need to know that, contrary to media reports to the contrary, the police were not responsible for the fight song.

(German) law enforcement officers are not that brutal.

An artist had played Helene Fischer’s piece, spoiling the fun for the evil Nazis. Haha! But in this story: There are no winners, only losers.

2. ‘Breathless’ is misleading

Millions of Fischer fans know this: they go to their trusted multimedia store, ask for “Breathless” and only when they get home do they realize that instead of the chart-topper, they just got the film of the same name. ‘Breathless – Dangerous Truth’ is an American action thriller from 2011, so beware! Not that they come out disappointed afterwards, like Christa Rigozzi in the SRF “Arena”!

3. “Breathless” skillfully

What do the “folk music experts” actually say about the song of songs? The Stuttgarter Zeitung asked Erich Schmeckenbecher about this. He categorizes “Breathless” as a “pop hit”: “They are just emotional, often kitschy. Acoustic erectile tissue that immediately collapses without technology.”

The lyrics even take Schmeckenbecher’s breath away, but not in a good way. ‘I’m starting to feel dizzy. If you compare these [Passage des Songtextes] For example, in the poem ‘The Night’ by Joseph von Eichendorff, there are galaxies among them.”

First use the image of a flaccid penis and then pull “Joe” von Eichendorff out of the hat: with this approach you will recognize the real expert.

4. “Breathless” parodied

“I’m floating towards you, the hottest pig in the world, with latex on my ass, as if I’ve been peeled off,” sings Carollin Kebekus during the German Comedy Awards ceremony on October 22, 2014 in Cologne. “And once I get there, of course I’ll sing this song.” The result: ‘shortness of breath, diarrhea, vomiting, sweating here in the room.’ The end of the song: “Breathless, good night, look what Schlager makes of you: unworthy, Discofox, without pants on the box. Without eggs!”

5. “Breathless” behind it

Remember the video of two Viennese police officers singing ‘Breathless’ in the car while on patrol? Only now do we get to see frightening images that show the story behind the story.

While people in the front of the cabin are singing at the top of their lungs, a drama unfolds unnoticed in the back of the police car. This young man…

…escaped from some evil villains in tow with the two bards. He is holding the police car – clearly visible here -…

…at the last second…

…to escape his captors.

The singing officers do not notice the chase or the next misstep: The criminals have an accident on the corner of Voralberger Strasse and the Kärntener Kreuz when they drive their car into a pig manure transporter from the Salzburger Land. “Breathless” almost makes sense again!

6. ‘Breathless’, that’s why I can’t blow

Not only comedians (and police officers) focus on the song, but also ordinary people. Then he mutters “Hackevoll durch die Nacht”, a Ballermann is hit by a man named Ikke Hipgold. It’s funny when you back it up with funny clips of drunk people.

7. Extremely “Breathless”

Where can you be more breathless than in space? Maybe a member of the ISS space station will agree to sing Fischer’s hit at (not at all) dizzying heights.

8. “Breathless” different

What would it sound like if Scooter sang ‘Breathless’? Or Rammstein? Or money boy? The YouTubers named Digges Ding have figured it out.
