10. Motion Control

If you observe a BMW passenger waving frantically in front of the infotainment system at the next traffic light, you know that he pays a lot for motion control. Rotating the air circles means: increasing or decreasing the voice, implied slaps to the face: singing forward or backward. We think a normal touchscreen would work as well.

9. Active parking assist

Do you see through the kitchen window how a car has been commuting in a parking lot for ten minutes? Clear situation: Here the user wants to park his high-tech mobile phone autonomously. However, many systems have trouble finding space – which takes time. Then park yourself.

8. TV Reception

Getting the current TV show in the car is not new in itself. What’s perfect for the back row won’t work in the cockpit – the systems only work for the driver when the vehicle is stationary. There are hardly any manufacturers today that do not offer them: projectors in the rearview mirror that project the brand logo, racehorses or giant wings onto the floor next to the driver and passenger doors. What is cool at first becomes annoying when you look in the rearview mirror at the latest in busy city traffic. Additional electronics are then really expensive.

Mercedes was the first manufacturer to offer the “Airscarf” feature in its convertibles. It’s actually a good idea. If it’s from top to bottom, simply turn on the neck warmer – and your neck has already softened. But let’s be honest: either it’s warm enough to let the wind blow your hair away – or it doesn’t and the hoodie closes.

When it comes to interior lighting, manufacturers outperform each other with a range of options. Red, blue, yellow, green or a mix of all – an adaptable color ambiance, part of good form today, no apologies, an expression of pure individuality. But which S-Class or 7-Series driver really wants to design their interior in pink?

The good old miracle tree is long gone. Today, those who have self-respect are scented with a fixed system. But if the smell is penetrating too much, you can throw the miracle trees in the nearest trash can, but first you need to remove the scent cannulas from the glove box. Today, they become high-tech devices the size of your palm that can be used to operate the air conditioning system or remotely call up the available range. The downside: These things don’t fit in a trouser pocket and are almost as heavy as modern smartphones. They are also expensive. Our advice to manufacturers: get rid of the monster key and transfer the functions to the smartphone.
