So that private messages remain really private, the developers of the messenger have come up with such a thing. A new entry called “Blocked Chats” should soon appear in the list of chats on WhatsApp.

According to the “WhatsApp Blog”, this is a feature that aims to provide even more privacy. Chats moved to the “Blocked Chats” folder should only be opened if authorized with the correct PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID.

According to WhatsApp, the “locked” messages are also not displayed. What benefit does that provide? WhatsApp says: “We think this feature is especially useful for people who occasionally share their phone with other family members, or for situations where someone else is holding your phone while a special chat message is being sent.”

A chat can be blocked by tapping on the name of the contact or group and selecting the “Block” option. According to the information, such blocked chats can be reopened by slowly pulling down the inbox, entering the device password or using the biometric scan.

Incidentally, WhatsApp is not yet at the end of its tinkering. The blog reads: “Over the next few months we plan to add several other chat locking options and, for example, allow locking for associated devices or create a self-defined password for your chats so you can use a different password. than the one for your phone.”
