The electric version of the Opel Mokka was formerly known as the Mokka-e and was powered by a 136 hp (100 kW) electric motor powered by a mandatory 50 kWh battery pack. The compact SUV called Opel Mokka Electric is on the way for the new model year – the “Electric” attachment is adapted from the new electric Astra. The larger battery pack and slight increase in performance also come from the electric Astra, due next year.
Like the electric Astra, the new Mokka Electric, which will be available to local dealers mid next year, is available on demand with an expanded battery pack and a capacity of not less than 54 kilowatt-hours (kWh). The electric motor also comes from electric group brothers Peugeot e-308, Astra Electric or Jeep Avenger and now has 156 hp (115 kW).
Range of more than 400 km
Despite the slight increase in output, the early-limited maximum torque of 260 Nm and a top speed of 150 km/h remained unchanged. After all, the Opel Astra Electric can accelerate to 170 km / h. “With a new electric drive and a larger battery, we are now making the Mokka Electric even more powerful, more efficient and better,” says Opel CEO Florian Huettl.
With 100 kW fast charging, the battery pack in the lower body is increased up to 80 percent in half an hour. The larger battery increases the maximum range from 338 kilometers to just over 400 kilometers. The standard consumption of the Opel Mokka Electric should be 15.2 kWh per 100 kilometers. It’s unlikely that Opel will announce prices for the revamped electric Mokka until spring. The Mokka-e is currently on the price list starting at CHF 36,060.
