When it comes to a car subscription, it quickly becomes about money. Because the monthly fixed price is often discussed, especially by those concerned. “Is everything really included in the all-in-one price?” asks Carvolution Sales Executive Rinaldo Linder. says one of the most frequently asked questions. The car expert has been working for Switzerland’s largest car subscription provider for five years. “Many people compare the monthly subscription price to the rental fee. Here we show that everything is included in the fixed monthly price with the subscription: motor vehicle tax, insurance, service and tires are included and should be taken into account when comparing costs with rental.

Sometimes I found it a bit tiring to talk so much about money. The feature of Carvolution is that it does not have a showroom. The cars are in a salon in Bannwil, Bern. This place is close to the Niederbipp motorway exit, the area is quite rural. Initial contact with customers usually occurs online via chat or email. Even in times of AI, questions and concerns are answered by advisors in chat. “People occasionally ask in chat if we are real,” Linder emphasizes. The majority of consultations will then take place by phone or video call.

That’s why a competent advisory team is important. “We all have slightly different professional backgrounds. “Some come from the automotive industry, some come from the hotel industry or traditional sales.” You don’t need to be a car expert. And this isn’t about selling a car subscription at any price. “It is much more important to understand our customers’ needs, provide them with the best possible service and support them in their decisions.”

It looks like the sales team is doing a pretty good job. Comments, mostly positive, include: “Great service”, “adequate”, “well located and friendly”, “fast, uncomplicated, transparent”. “We are also happy with local visits such as Bannwil or Zurich,” says Linder. «I attach great importance to personal shopping. Because we believe this is important in order to respond to individual needs.”

Linder says that during these visits, the focus is often on exchanging ideas with the Carvolution team rather than the car. “We may not always have all the tools, but a lot of people really don’t care.” But there are also customers who will never come to Bannwil because they can have their car delivered directly to their front door.

Linder says many people come to Carvolution through recommendations from friends or acquaintances. «So you’ve already heard about us and talked to others about car subscription and Carvolution. “Some are already very well informed, while others are just curious and want to know what exactly a car subscription is.”

Linder explains that this usually has to do with the total cost of a vehicle. «Some are surprised by our low prices, while others initially compare the subscription with rental rates and therefore consider them high. In such cases, we will be happy to take the time to calculate and include all relevant costs together, from insurance to tires to taxes. “This makes clear the monthly savings potential of the subscription and shows that vehicle costs need to be looked at carefully.”

There are always questions about brands and models. One of the most common requests is for the vehicle to be ready for immediate delivery. But even if the car is in the corridor in Bannwil, it takes several days due to the cantonal payment. If the car you want isn’t in the offer, it will be included, says Linder. That’s why they kept getting requests for minibuses. “Our price advantage in vehicle subscriptions comes from the fact that we supply vehicles in large quantities. “If a request is expressed frequently, our purchasing team is actively investigating it.” That’s why the Ford Tourneo, with eight seats and ample storage space, is now available in the Carvolution range.

Most of the time, customers don’t have a specific model in mind; instead there are certain criteria for the stroller, such as space, motorization or equipment. Based on this information, they would evaluate several proposals together. “Most customers enjoy getting advice, especially when it comes to their first car subscription. It’s a big decision and there are a lot of questions to be answered about insurance, duration or returns.”

If someone decides against a tool subscription after consultation, it’s usually because they only want to use the tool for a short period of time or they want to configure the tool themselves, says Linder. “Some people are opposed to subscription because they would rather drive a used car to further reduce their expenses.” Ultimately, the decision always comes down to individual preferences, says the sales executive. “The best thing to do is to seek advice without obligation.”
