Blick writer editor Lorenzo Fulvi’s personal car standout in 2023: electric hyperpower and an all-time favorite

My car year started for me in May, when I was allowed to start as an editor in Blick’s car editorial department. And literally the start was quick. I was initially allowed to cross the Oberalp Pass in an all-electric 1914 hp Rimac Nevera. Even flying doesn’t get any better than this, because the crazy thrusts of the Croatian hyper athlete are so incredible that I asked myself: What to do next? I will remember this car for a long time.

On the way with 2 million

In September, we moved from the electric hypercar to the dream car of the 1950s: the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. It’s the great-grandfather of all modern super sports cars, so to speak, and it’s more than three times my age. Even though the Mercedes car had only one-ninth the horsepower of the Rimac, the legendary Benz Gullwing was a more special car for me. The history of automobiles turned into sheet metal, so to speak. Are old cars lame and boring? But not this!

Two completely different cars – but they still have a lot in common: For example, the price of about two million francs. Moreover, neither of them are on every corner. And finally, record hunters: the 300 SL was the fastest passenger car in the world at the time. And Rimac has broken numerous records in the last twelve months. This includes probably the most extraordinary one: 275 km/h, top speed in reverse. Of course, I couldn’t try it myself. But maybe it was better this way.
