Leaks and a first trailer: what we know about GTA 6

These are exciting times for gamers. Because on Tuesday, industry giant Rockstar will release long-awaited information and a trailer for ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’. There have been various rumors about the successor to the hit series for some time. This is what is known so far:

When is the trailer coming?

Rockstar had already indicated some time ago that a trailer for GTA would be released in early December. Now the date and even the time are set: On Tuesday at 2:45 p.m Swiss time, the trailer is published here on YouTube:

When will GTA 6 be released?

There is no exact release date. Yet experts do not rule out that we already have GTA 6 At the earliest in 2024 and at the latest in 2025 could roll up their sleeves. This is because the developer studio Take Two predicted huge profits for this period in May 2023.

Strauss Zelnick, the company’s CEO, cited the development of “groundbreaking titles” and “new records in operational performance” as the reason. That sounds a lot like a blockbuster game, like GTA will probably be.

On which platforms?

There is no reliable information about this yet either. GTA 6 will definitely be released for the PlayStation 5. There are also rumors that Sony has exclusively acquired the rights to the new GTA, but this seems unlikely to experts. The game should therefore also be developed for the Xbox Series X/S.

However, the question is whether the game will also be released for older consoles such as the PS4 or Xbox One. There is also no information yet about a PC version. It’s unlikely this will be published some time later, if at all.

What about the leaks?

Gamers saw the first gameplay fragments of GTA 6 as early as September 2022. A mega leak saw a 90-minute video of an early developer version of the game appear online. A hacker published it after unsuccessfully trying to blackmail Rockstar with it.

There is currently another image circulating that should show the full map of the game. However, this was largely composed of the leaked gameplay video and another 7-second video showing the game’s landscape from a bird’s eye view.

What else do we know about GTA 6?

According to consistent information, the game is set in the fictional city of Vice City, based on Miami. The story is said to revolve around drug trafficking and smuggling linked to South America. That is why a visit to the southern continent is also possible.

However, it’s unclear whose role fans will play in this. Various names were mentioned in various leaks and the rumor continued that a woman would take on one of the leading roles in GTA 6 for the first time. However, there is no reliable information about this either. (lion)
