We know one more feature from Miloo’s previously released Classy Beast and Mighty Beast models: When a small lever on the handlebar is pressed, the e-bike accelerates without pedaling, allowing the high-tech bike to be ridden like an electric scooter. When the traffic light starts at the highest boost level, the maximum 1250 watts kicks in without delay – and our front wheel lifts for a moment!

We’re slowly getting closer to the power of the mid-engine, we’re quickly getting used to the unconventional gear hub, and we’re going full throttle on a flat road without traffic: it’s incredible how powerfully the Xplorer pulls forward, reaching 35, 40 and soon 45 km/h. reached! Thanks to a maximum torque of up to 200 Nm, the motorcycle climbs even steep slopes with ease.

True professional device

Developed in collaboration with Swiss extreme adventurer Mike Horn, the Xplorer is primarily designed for riding in particularly demanding conditions: Horn is said to have tested the superbike on one of Switzerland’s highest peaks last winter. It doesn’t get that extreme in our testing. But to get a rough idea of ​​what the Xplorer can do, which weighs just 19 kilograms (29 kg with the battery) and has a particularly rigid carbon frame, we take it for a ride on the winding gravel roads around Üetliberg in Zurich. .

Striking: The bike feels incredibly stable – the Xplorer is practically non-slip even on loose ground thanks to the wide terrain tires (tyres with less tread are also available for the city). The wide steering angle of the front suspension fork and the 3-point rear wheel suspension, the adaptive damping force during compression and rebound, should make driving on rough terrain even easier.

However, if the Xplorer Beast’s maximum performance is actively used, this also negatively affects the 1000 Wh battery housed in the frame: In full throttle mode, the electric range is only around 35 kilometers. According to Miloo, if you use the boost at a moderate level, you can travel up to 100 kilometers.

But during their expeditions, the makers considered the possibility of an empty battery: alongside an additional 1000 Wh battery for the luggage rack, there are also more compact 672 Wh batteries to take with you in the rear side pockets. Smart: Additional batteries can also be charged via solar panels (power: 180 W) located far from the nearest power connection and can also be used as a power bank for other electrical devices.

Insanity – also in price

Of course, all high-tech components also have an (extra) price: limited to 100 and numbered Miloo Xplorer Beast already costs 10,899 francs in the basic configuration. But the list of extras is long: the ABS brake system costs 699 francs, and the carbon luggage rack with integrated turn signal is 999 francs. Should it be the additional battery mentioned: 1299 francs. Smaller batteries cost 899 francs, plus 699 francs for solar panels. The Xplorer Beast, which is fully equipped with handlebar-integrated indicators, special frame color and CNC machined rear view mirrors, can cost up to 18,000 francs.
