Emergency updates available for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch – update now!

Apple released security updates on Wednesday evening that affect almost all users. The system updates apparently close a dangerous vulnerability about which not much is known yet.

“This update contains important security updates and is recommended for all users.”

Updates are available for newer and older devices, from iPhone and iPad to Mac to Apple Watch.

For the newer devices there are:

  • iOS16.5.1
  • iPadOS 16.5.1
  • macOS Ventura 13.4.1
  • check out OS 9.5.2

For the older devices there are:

  • iOS15.7.7
    (for iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and newer)
  • iPad OS 15.7.7
    (for iPad Air 2 and newer).
  • macOS BigSur 11.7.8
  • macOS Monterey 12.6.7
  • watchOS 8.8.1

To update iPhone or iPad directly to the latest version, go to Settings, General and tap Software Update.

There was no corresponding update available for the Apple TV TV set-top box on Wednesday evening.
