Since the corona epidemic – even if it has ended – Swiss campsite operators have managed to save reservations. The hustle and bustle in the campsites in Europe continues this year as well. If a tent isn’t comfortable enough and a VW Bulli-style camper or even a luxury mobile home is too expensive for you, there are some inexpensive but great alternatives: mini campers. Here are five new miniature caravans that could soon be conquering our campgrounds.
The swanky mini-camper from Turkish manufacturer Pino Karavan offers everything a camper’s heart desires in just three meters in length: when the bench seat is folded down, it sleeps two people in the main bed and optionally one person in the bunk above. There is also a bathroom with a portable cassette toilet and a kitchenette with a two-burner stove, sink and fridge. As of this year, the Pi XL is also available in Switzerland for CHF 15,000.
German RS-Camp company’s ES-3 is just 2.74 meters long and 750 kilograms, but its off-road capability is incredible. It is slightly larger compared to its predecessor, the ES-2, and has additional wall cabinets for more storage space. It also offers space for two and an integrated kitchenette at the rear. The mini all-terrain vehicle is available in Switzerland starting at CHF 20,777. It can get expensive with all sorts of equipment options like a roof tent, outdoor shower or even a solar system.
This retro 1960s style camper egg is the only model from British company Barefoot Caravans. The Mini-Mobile has been around since 2018, but this year it only reached Europe and only Germany. It is an impressive five meters long, and inside a large upholstered sofa can be converted into a double bed. There is also a kitchenette with two burner stove and sink, heater, hot water boiler and a wine cooler next to the wet room. Barefoot can be ordered in Germany for around 27,000 francs.
Another off-road vehicle among mini campers is the brand-new Raptor X from Hunter-Nature. The German manufacturer has packed everything into the compact X, it has everything you need: an L-shaped seat with a small capsule bed hidden behind it and a sofa bed above it. , a kitchenette with two burner gas hobs, a sink and a compact fridge, and a bathroom with vanity and optional toilet. There is no price yet as it has just been released. We’re making a cautious guess: the big sibling Raptor XC retails in Germany for 40,000 francs – so the basic version of the X will start at around 20,000 francs.
As the name suggests, the Hero Camper is new to the market. The Livingstone line of equipment has been completely relaunched: a large double bed, windows with mosquito nets, improved insulation, an exterior storage box, a well-developed kitchenette and a new bathroom. The very long 4.82-meter mini model of the Danish Hero Camper company has been on sale in Switzerland for CHF 19,020 since this year.
