After a debacle in the first leg of the relegation that was overshadowed by fan riots, Arminia Bielefeld is threatened with relegation for the second time in a row. The team with the Swiss Silvan Sidler (without a match) lost 0-4 at third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden and had its back against the wall on Tuesday for the second leg (8.45 pm in Sat.1) in Bielefeld.
In the final phase, Bielefeld fans cause chaos and a minute-long interruption. Firecrackers fly onto the field, one firecracker lands right next to Arminia’s athletic trainer Niklas Klasen. Captain Fabian Klos tearfully tries to calm the situation and addresses the chaos. Benjamin Brand first sends the teams into the dressing room, after 20 minutes the referee resumes play.
In the second duel, Bielefeld faces a huge obstacle. After conceding goals from Ivan Prtajin (6th), Johannes Wurtz (50th), Benedict Hollerbach (60th) and John Iredale (82nd), Arminia has to catch up – and needs a much better performance than in the first comparison on Friday in Wiesbaden. (AFP)
