“You are a damn disgrace”: Mourinho lurks in referee after final garage bankruptcy

Jose Mourinho is furious after Sevilla’s loss in the Europa League final.

In his sixth participation in a European Cup final, Jose Mourinho has to accept defeat for the first time. The Portuguese lost with AS Roma in a penalty shootout against the now seven-time Europa League champions Sevilla. And the frustration runs deep within the 60-year-old.

It is mainly aimed at the English referee team around Anthony Taylor (44). “The referee seemed Spanish. We go home broken because of injustice,” Mourinho told Sky Italia. The reason for this is, on the one hand, the 14 yellow cards that the Briton has handed out in total. The Spaniards get six, the Roma players seven – and one Mourinho.

One scene in particular angered him: “When Lamela (Seville player, editor’s note) earned a second yellow card, he didn’t give it and then shot a penalty.”

Referee and UEFA offended

Later on, “The Special One” becomes even clearer. In the parking garage of the Puskas Arena in Budapest, he lies in wait for the referees and insults them. First he yells at them, “You’re a goddamn disgrace.” Then he continues to swear in Italian. According to “Cadena Ser”, the European Football Association should also have shed its fat. For example, Mourinho repeatedly said “Sch **** Uefa”, which cannot be heard in the video.

The Giallorossi not only missed out on the Europa League title, but also the chance to play in the Champions League next season. “That’s good too,” says Mourinho sarcastically, “because we hope that Taylor will only lead competitions in the premier league and do the same there.”

Mourinho gives a medal to a fan

Still, he is proud of his team’s performance. Immediately after the game, he gathered his players and told them that they played a great game and that all of Europe noticed them. He also praised his team to Sky Italia: “We are proud of what we have done. You can lose the game, but not your dignity, your professionalism.” Although he lost a final for the first time, he will go home prouder than ever.

Mourinho provides a very special fan moment after the award ceremony. He gives his silver medal to a young fan who can’t believe his luck. Mourinho explains: “I only keep the gold ones, I give away the silver ones.” (che)
