Starting today, June 1, 2023, you can watch Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse in theaters – and damn: it’s worth it! While many people will be excited about the upcoming 2024 sequel Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, there is reportedly a lot more to come with the main characters at the heart of the new film – not just in animated form, but also in real movies.
At the premiere of “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse,” producer Amy Pascal revealed to the industry magazine , that a live-action movie starring Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy is in the works. “It’s all happening!” However, she did not reveal whether Shameik Moore (“Samaritan”) and Hailee Steinfeld (“Hawkeye”), who voice the characters in the animated films, will also embody them in live-action films.
It is also unknown if they are the exact same incarnations as in the animated trilogy that started with “Spider-Man: A New Universe” or alternate versions from a different corner of the multiverse. It’s also unclear whether such live-action films will be linked to the MCU or – which we think is more likely – then linked to Sony films such as “Venom” and Co.

However, it seems clear that Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy should not replace Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Probably there will be both at the same time. Pascal’s fellow producer Avi Arad also gave a glimpse of the program. We’ll see a Spider-Woman movie starring Gwen Stacy sooner than we expect. He hints that there might only be one Gwen Stacy movie initially, with Miles Morales joining her later on, which would mean several live-action movies starring the animated characters already.
Of course, “Spider-Man 4” with Tom Holland will also remain on the agenda, as Pascal once again confirmed. However the current Hollywood screenwriters’ strike has resulted in work being suspended. Once the conflict is resolved and the strike has ended, it will immediately begin again. It is not yet clear when Spider-Man 4 will be released.
