Finished at the French Open: In-Albon has to go home – but cashes in nicely

Ylena In-Albon (WTA 149) has to pack her bags. With the exception of fifteen minutes into the second set, the 24-year-old was clearly dominated by the one year younger American Claire Liu (WTA 102). Liu led 6-1, 3-0. Then In-Albon won four games in a row. After this intermediate sprint, the race quickly came to an end. Liu won the last three games and used the first match point after 74 minutes to make it 6:1, 6:4. In-Albon had clearly lost to Liu at the Junior US Open seven years ago.

Ylena In-Albon is still waiting for her first Grand Tour victory. The loss to Liu was the tenth in a main draw. A year ago she was eliminated in Wimbledon during her Grand Slam premiere against Alison Riske, she recently lost in Bogota to Eugenie Bouchard and in Stuttgart to Tatiana Maria on the main field.

After all, the three victories in the In-Albon qualifying helped her to the biggest payout of her career. She takes 69,000 euros from Paris. She managed to more than double her prize money.
