Robertson was the star of Obradoiro

Author: XOAN A. SOLER

The Canadian shooting guard returned to Sar on the day of the tenth round, with plenty of time to raise the level of a team that has fallen back in love with devoted fans

Cassius Robertson (Toronto, Canada, 1994) was once again the star of Obradoiro in a season in which the team fulfilled the goal of the duration with satisfaction and on a good note, a title that Compostelas plays every year in the Endesa League. The Canadian shined again and led Moncho Fernández’s team to successeven weeks before the end of the regular phase.

Along the way, there are other great goals, additional rewards that satisfy every athlete. Qualifying for the Copa del Rey or the playoffs for the title are difficult goals to achieve and difficult to achieve. An almost impossible mission for the humblest. The Obradoirists were close, very close to touching a challenge destined for big budgets and the highest class. But for one more year, Obra competed in worse conditions and walked with all honors against authentic teams.

Robertson was the leader, but he was not the only one. The locker room is what strengthens this project every year, regardless of the individuality of the players who are key to success such as the Canadian defender, the Scrubb brothers or Dragan Bender, who due to injury could not reach a level that would serve as a springboard to find a more economically rich destination.

Robertson was in the lead again in many statistics of the Endesa league, rubbing shoulders and discussing the role of great players, athletes who amaze and shine all over Europe. The Canadian led the ACB in points, with 17.4 per game, ahead of stars like Harding (Manres), with 16.2; Howard (Baskonia), 16.1; Dzanan Musa (Real Madrid), 14.7; and Taylor (Girona Basketball), 14.5.

In three-pointers, he finished third with 2.6 three-pointers per day, behind Markus Howard (Baskonia) with 3.2; and from McFadden (Murcia), 2.9. He was second in free throws with 4.1 per game, and only Giorgi Shermadini (Tenerife) surpassed him with 5.1.

30., unquestionable for Moncho Fernández as of day 10, he was the second player in the league with the most court presence, averaging 28 minutes a day. No more than that he was surpassed by another of Obradoiro’s stars, his compatriot Thomas Scrubb, with 30 per game. His brother Phil ranked second in free throw percentage with a 90.8% shooting percentage. Only Mirotić (Barça) surpassed him.
