Omeragic is now raising CHF 450,000

Becir Omeragic (21) is expected to celebrate his anniversary on Sunday. When he is on the field, the game at YB will be his 100th Super League game for Zurich. But there will be a maximum of 103 – this week the FCZ announces the expected change from Omeragic to Montpellier.

It’s a free transfer through the back door. No jubilant bustle around the FCZ like last May with the sensational title, no blessing of millions through the sale of the defensive jewel.

The resident of Geneva came from Servette to FCZ five years ago and already played in the Super League at the age of 17. At the age of 18 he made his debut in the national team, at the age of 19 the youngster seems to be able to become big business.

The serious injury changes everything

FCZ chairman Ancillo Canepa speaks of a price tag of 10 million. In any case, a higher single-digit million figure is conceivable, as Omeragic is a regular player on the championship team.

But then the serious meniscus injury in April 2022 changes everything. A lucrative sale as exploited last summer is not realistic, then the battle for a new contract begins.

Zurich wants to extend and therefore simply pay later. However, Omeragic does not want to deviate from the plan to leave Zurich in 2023 for the famous next step.

There is interest in a transfer before the end of the contract in the late summer of 2022 after his return and last winter from clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb. But nothing is ever ready to be signed.

Now Geneva is going to Ligue 1. Actually for free. But because 90,000 francs are due for a foreign transfer per training year, Omeragic still brings in 450,000 francs during his five FCZ years.
