SRF national team expert Furrer brings SCB legend

Philippe Furrer (37) has been the new SRF expert of the national team since his retirement as a player a year ago. He will also join the Swiss at the World Championships in Latvia and Finland, which start on Friday. But his main job is as a partner in Immoseeker AG in the real estate sector. Furrer and his partners in the company in Murten FR recently expanded their area – and hired an old acquaintance to do so.

It concerns former Nati and SCB star Roberto Triulzi (57), who was also sports director of SCB for four years after his playing time. It was also Triulzi who gave the young SCB talent Philippe Furrer his first professional contract in 2002. It’s a long time ago.

Now Furrer has returned the favor and signed Triulzi along with his business partners. The Engadine resident, who also managed the bobsleigh track in St. Moritz for ten years after his ice hockey days, has been responsible for Valais since April 1. Roberto Triulzi’s son, Mirco (31), who is responsible for the region around the Upper Lake of Zurich, joined the real estate company at the same time.

“Roberto and I had lost track of each other in recent years, but then met again at a barbecue evening with former SCB players. We got to talking and that sparked an interest in mutual cooperation,” says three-time Swiss champion Furrer about the transfer of six-time Swiss champion Triulzi.

Furrer believes in a strong World Cup for the national team

“Since Roberto has been here, hockey has been talked about more and more during breaks in management meetings,” says Furrer with a smile. The topics last: The renewed stunner at SCB and the national team for the upcoming World Cup in Riga. Furrer will also deploy the latter as an SRF expert on site for the next two and a half weeks. “It’s a nice change from the daily work and also keeps me in touch with hockey. I’m very happy!”

After 2022, Furrer will work for SRF in Riga and Tampere for the second time as a World Cup expert. “Everything was new to me in this role. Now I know what to expect, I can refine and further develop everything,” said the former national defender and silver hero of 2013.

And what does he think the national team can do this year? “The conditions are there for a good World Cup. The quarterfinals are mandatory, but the final weekend is also possible for Switzerland.” For the 101-time national player, a decisive factor in achieving a medal is “how well the team develops over the course of the tournament”.
