Verstappen wins in Miami, ahead of Checo and Alonso who repeats the podium

Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) consolidated the lead in the Formula 1 World Championship by winning the Grand Prix of Miami (USA) this Sunday, the fifth of the year, held on the track built around the Hard Rock Stadium in the aforementioned city in the state of Florida. ; where he relegated to second and third place his partner, the Mexican Sergio Pérez, and the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who won his fourth podium of the season: 102 in the Premier class.

Verstappen, the 25-year-old aiming for a third consecutive title, claimed his 38th F1 victory, his third of the season, with a new result – after starting ninth – with which he triumphantly crossed the finish line ahead of ‘Checo’ (signed the fourth of the year ‘ double’ for Red Bull) and again great Alonso; in a race in which another Spaniard, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), finished in fifth place, behind Englishman George Russell (Mercedes).

Seven-time world champion Englishman Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) finished sixth, just ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc, Sainz’s teammate in Ferrari.

Alpine’s two Frenchmen, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, finished eighth and ninth; and Denmark’s Kevin Magnussen (Haas) won the last point at stake, finishing tenth.

Verstappen, who repeated last year’s victory and recorded the fastest lap, now leads the World Cup with 119 points, fourteen more than the Czech. He is the third Asturian double world champion with 75 units.
