Daniela Ryf (35) did not start the triathlon season at the PTO European Open in Ibiza. The resident of Solothurn has to give up due to stomach problems.
Ryf already loses a lot of time in the 2 km swim, but is initially on the bike with the eventual winner Anne Haug. Unlike the German, who starts to catch up after half of the 80.2 km, Ryf can no longer catch up and eventually gives up.
After running 17.8 km, Haug crossed the finish line two and a half minutes ahead of second-placed Australian Ashley Gentle. Third is the British Lucy Charles-Barclay. In the men’s Andrea Salvisberg (34) from Bern had to settle for 25th place, more than fifteen minutes behind the winner Max Neumann from Australia. (SDA/nsa)
