The winter sports world has been in shock since mid-March. The biathlon talent Eivind Sporaland (22) disappeared without a trace shortly before the national championships in Lillehammer. The search is still going on, many befriended biathletes are participating.
Now several Norwegian news portals have made public new developments in the case. In the week after Easter, a hiker found Sporaland’s mobile phone and took it to the police. The responsible researchers hope to find new clues thanks to the data.
And then there’s another clue. The biathlete’s hometown was broken into. “It seems that the burglar has taken things that you need to survive in nature,” said one of the responsible police officers. It may be related to the disappearance of Sporaland.
Researchers aren’t saying if they still hope to find Sporaland alive or if they’ve already given up. (nsa)
